2004 SD 64 DFL Party Position Descriptions

All members serve in their positions for a two-year term

 

I.                  Executive Committee (6 members)

A.   Senate District 64 Chair

Serves as co-leader of senate district with associate chair. Holds primary responsibility for holding monthly meetings of Board of Directors (Executive Committee + Directors) and quarterly meetings of Central Committee (all SD positions).

Typical projects include:

-         Work with endorsed candidates;

-         Coordinate district fundraising efforts;

-         Work with other DFL bodies such as 4th CD and State DFL

-         Coordinate Senate District caucuses and convention (every 2 years)

 

B.    Associate Chair

Primarily supports the work of the co-chair, but is often an “equal partnership”. Takes over duties of chair if there is a resignation.

 

C.   Treasurer

Keeps books and does monthly financial report.

 

D.   Affirmative Action Officer

Responsible for coordination and recruitment of underrepresented populations within the district.

 

E.    Fundraising Coordinator

Coordinates and carries out fundraising efforts for the district.

 

F.    Secretary

Responsible for recoding all meetings as well as posting (usually via postcard) all meeting notices to appropriate party members.

                                    

II.               Board of Directors (31 members: Directors + Exec. Comm. members)

A.   Director (17 positions available)

Helps to develop strategy and projects and the senate district. Attends monthly Board meetings as well as quarterly Central Committee meetings.

B.    Alternate (7 positions available)

Serves in same capacity as Director without voting responsibility.

C.   SD 64 State Central Committee Delegate (8 positions available)

Serves on the SD 64 DFL Board as well as a delegate to the State DFL Central Committee meeting (usually four per year).

D.   SD 64 State Central Committee Alternate (8 positions available)

Serves in same capacity as Delegate without voting responsibility.

 

 

                                    

III.           Central Committee

(62 members: Board of Directors + 4th CD Delegates + 29 precinct chairs)

A.   SD 64 DFL 4th Congressional Committee Delegate  (4 positions available)

Represents SD 64 at 4th Congressional DFL monthly meetings. Delegation leader is typically the SD chair.

 

B.    Alternate (9 positions available)

Serves in same capacity as Delegate without voting responsibility.

 

C.   Precinct Chair

Carries out direction of Senate District (organizing, fundraising, etc.) at grassroots (precinct) level.
