GOP Dereg Blues

For those who can remember back a few years, before a certain "Revolution" took place, there was a time when massive corporate scandals didn't appear on the front page of the newpapers with such amazing frequency. There was a reason for that. You see, regulations were put in place from the previous time that such an upheaval had wrecked the economy of the country. But time passed and an idea was cooked up that really all these regulations were inefficient and unnecessary because, well, we just wouldn't do these sorts of things again. Live and learn. But for those who cooked up this bright idea that has put us in this mess, they might be singing the blues right now. And the lyrics might go something like this:

I woke up this morning
didn't get out of bed

cause the causes I fostered
have bit me instead

I've got the blues, those GOP dereg blues
oh, what will I do, with those lowdown dereg blues

Well Newt didn't tell me
with his Contract so fine

that it was regulations
that kept Enron in line

I've got the blues, those GOP dereg blues
oh, what will I do, with those lowdown dereg blues

And when we decided
to give Freedom to Farm

well how could I know
it would do so much harm

I've got the blues, those GOP dereg blues
oh, what will I do, with those nasty dereg blues

And we almost invested
Social Security,

now just imagine
how I'd be AARP'ed

Oh, I've got the blues, those GOP dereg blues
oh, what will I do, with those lowdown dereg blues

The worst thing about it
the worst thing you see,

is that those Democrats
have the last laugh on me

I've got the blues, I've got those dereg blues
and there's nuthin I can do, with those GOP dereg blues
